Povidone is widely used in pharmaceutical industries as the suspending drugs. The material tone is of white to off-white powder in its clean form and while mixing with other material it acts as a table binder. The most common use of this material is with iodine, known as Povidone Iodine. This yellowish brown or reddish brown powder is easily soluble in water and alcohol, but not mixed with chloroform. During the treatment, when doctors apply this medicine, it works slowly and releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of bacteria, fungi and viruses.
